VHP of America (VHPA) extends its heartfelt prayers to all those affected by the catastrophic floods impacting the Guadalupe River Basin and surrounding areas in Texas. In just a few overnight hours, more than 100 billion gallons of water inundated the region—an amount exceeding the daily flow of Niagara Falls. Entire communities, including campsites, were caught off guard after midnight. Tragically, the death toll has now surpassed 100.
VHPA Houston Chapter is working with partner organizations on ground with the support of broader Texas Hindu community including local temples, community leaders, and officials—to provide immediate relief and support to those in need.
To strengthen and sustain these efforts, VHPA has launched a disaster relief fundraiser. Your donations will go directly toward helping affected families recover, rebuild, and regain stability in the weeks and months ahead.
We are currently in the rescue phase of response. This will be followed by damage assessment, short-term recovery, and ultimately a long-term rebuilding phase. We anticipate significant long-term unmet needs, and the community’s support will be vital.
Immediate Needs Include:
- Bleach, brooms, trash bags
- Hygiene kits
- Bottled drinking water
- Non-perishable food items
- Baby wipes, diapers, socks
- Gas gift cards
- Muck and gut cleanup supplies (for post-rescue phase)
Every donation, no matter the size, will help bring hope and relief to those enduring this tragedy. Please join us in standing with Texas.
