The following statement was issued by World Hindu Council of America (VHPA)

VHPA Laments the Passing of Great Spiritual Leader Dada JP Vaswani

World Hindu Council of America (VHPA) laments the passing of the great spiritual leader, Dada JP Vaswani.  Dada Vaswani, graced major programs and inspired the Hindu community in USA with his message of love and compassion.

Dada JP Vaswani, a truly global spiritual leader spread the essentials of Hindu philosophy – love, ahimsa and vegetarianism.  His life exemplified core Hindu beliefs of a society which treats fellow human beings without inequality or animosity. True to his spirit, his birthday has been celebrated as, “Global Forgiveness Day.”  The Sadhu Vaswani Mission, which Dada Vaswani led for several decades has dedicated itself to seva (selfless service) around the world through its various educational, healthcare and social welfare activities.

Dada Vaswani had long association with VHPA and its sister organizations.  He addressed the 10th. Hindu Conference organized by VHPA at the Madison Square Garden in New York in 1984.  In 1993, Dada Vaswani addressed the global Hindu community at the VHPA organized Global VIsion 2000 and at Washington and spoke on “Inspiration from Swami Vivekananda’s Life and Philosophy.”

Dr. Abhaya Asthana, President of VHPA expressed the sentiments of VHPA in his comments, “WIth the passing of Dada JP Vaswani, the Hindus in America and around the world has lost a proponent of Hindu values of love, peace and forgiveness.  His long association with VHPA and his inspirational addresses to the Hindu community will be profoundly missed. Dada Vaswani’s teachings will live on with his countless inspirational talks and in over 150 books he authored. We will continue to live by the example he has set and carry his message forward.”
